Special Prayer Topic
Please continue to keep Kye-Sook Won, a member of the Korean-speaking part of our church, in your prayers as she goes through medical treatment for cancer in her body.

Much thanks to Tim and Jean for hosting our latest G5 meeting. The food was delicious and we had a great time! And much thanks to the brothers who cleaned up the shattered glass in the parking lot last Sunday.

Lord’s Supper
We are slated to observe the Lord’s Supper this coming Sunday (Oct 2). Please be mindful and prayerful about this sacrament.

Monthly Joint Worship
We are invited to a joint worship service with the KM this Friday at 8:00 pm in the main sanctuary. Please come all psyched up to sing a praise song on stage with the EM. See you there!

G5 Meeting
You’re invited to our next G5 meeting at Aaron and Christine’s home on Sunday, October 2 at 5:00 pm. Hope to see you there!

Special Night and Signup
Our church is having its annual family praise night on Friday, October 28. Come out for a night of singing and performances - with prizes to boot! Do sign up at the lobby table if you want in on some friendly competition. Otherwise, we hope to see you all there!

Small Groups
A successful and memorable quarter cycle of small groups is coming to a close! Please relay your thoughts and opinions to your leaders for the next quarter. And please talk to them or to Pastor Abe if you would like to have a go at leading a group in the next cycle. Let’s make the next three months of small groups great!

Volunteers Welcomed
The Children’s Ministry is looking for a few helpers to join a teaching rotation for their classes and lead the children in their songs of praise. Please speak with Pastor James if you are interested in volunteering!

Coming Up
Stay tuned for a new Bible study program in November!

October Birthdays
Much love to Sara (2nd)!

About Us
Located in the northern Chicago suburb of Vernon Hills, Highland Presbyterian Church is a great place to grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ, worship and do church and Christian life in the Reformed Presbyterian tradition, fellowship with married couples, young adults, college students, and youth students, and proclaim the gospel to the world as we wait for the Lord and for his kingdom. We look forward to welcoming you and worshipping God together!

Our Denomination
We are a local church of the Presbyterian Church in America and the Korean Central Presbytery.

Our mission is to worship God, proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ, and prepare believers for the coming eternal kingdom with the ministry of Word and Sacrament.

We receive the Westminster Confession of Faith and Larger and Shorter Catechisms as accurate summaries of what the Bible teaches.

Lord's Day Worship
Our worship services are best described as being Christ-centered, covenantal, and dialogical. We celebrate the Lord’s Supper every first Sunday of the month. Casual dress is acceptable. A cry room is available for infants. We offer a Sunday School program for children and a Bible study for youth students after worship. There is free on-site parking. Lunch is served in the afternoon.

Pastor for Adults
Abraham Hong was born and raised in the Chicago area and is an ordained teaching elder in the PCA. He studied at Westminster Seminary in Philadelphia and Washington University in St. Louis. Abraham enjoys nature, traveling, and following the Cubs.

Pastor for Youth & Children
David Park was born in Korea, raised in the Atlanta area, and is an ordained teaching elder in the PCA. He studied at Trinity Divinity School in Chicago and at Georgia State. David is happily married to his wife Stephanie, and he enjoys cooking, hiking, camping, and playing sports.

In addition to various events throughout the year, we have monthly fellowship meetings, biweekly small groups, and monthly joint services on Fridays with our church's Korean-speaking members.

Ways to Get Involved
Members can get involved in welcoming, praise, hosting small groups, and assisting our church's work with college students, youth students, and children. Members also have the opportunity to assist our church's diaconal ministry.

We work with Roots, a summer retreat program for youth students, and Servants, a college student fellowship in Chicago.
